The Long Charade

Already, while searching for housing in SF, I am talking to many AIs that are handling inbound requests for apartments. It's obvious that they are AI because they keep following up with canned messages that disregard the message I gave earlier (eg. stop contacting me unless you have a 3BR available to tour). Maybe the AIs will get better. Right now their cron job appears to not be in the agentic loop.

In the near future it will be more and more common for the following funny situation to occur: you will be using your agent to do work on your behalf and businesses will also be using agents on their behalf. It'll basically just be agents talking to each other, but over the traditional human channels like email and with the social mores and mannerisms to appear human (under the assumption at least one side is human).

This is a charade. Dedicated agent-to-agent communication will be richer and superior but this charade over human channels will continue for a long time.
